About the ILSS
February 18, 2008 — Graham LavenderMany of us chose library school because we love the possibilities of providing access to information but started attending classes and realized: wait, this isn’t all fun and games! My hope is that this blog will inspire my fellow library school students to be excited about the field of LIS.
If you’re not a library school student, don’t worry - you can still be excited about information! Whether the terms Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 make you perk up your ears, wince, or scratch your head, the new directions of the Internet can be fascinating for everyone.
And as for the ILSS himself? My name is Graham Lavender; nice to meet you. I’m in the MLIS program at the School of Information Studies at McGill University (graduating spring 2009), and I’m not nearly as perky as I probably sound. I’m not famous, but that’s okay.
If you leave me a comment, I’ll be your friend.

Hey Graham,
this is really cool. Are you a web designer, as well as blogger/inspired LSS, or are there templates for this kind of thing somewhere? Should have attended last Friday, I guess…
Now, if only I could get as inspired as you seem to be about your blog about the long list of assignments I intend to work on this week.
Have a good break. Ute

Hi Ute,
I’m glad you like it! I actually know very little about web design, but John’s talk at the workshop made me realize how easy it is to make a blog that looks really nice. I’m using a template that I found on WordPress.
See you in class.

Hello Graham,
I am a recent graduate from Library School in Oklahoma, and we have a mutual friend, Kirsten.
I’d like to keep in touch with current students so I can learn what they are into.

Kim: I’m glad to hear that new professionals are interested in opening a dialogue with current students - I think it’ll help us all learn!
